Piercing Aftercare
Piercing Aftercare
Taking proper care of your piercing is incredibly important. Every piercing has its own piercing aftercare requirements.
We break up our piercing aftercare into 3 sections. Above the neck, below the neck and oral piercings.
To clean your piercing, we ask you to only use what is recommended by your Gypsy Rose piercing professional. As each piercing requires specific aftercare, you will receive an aftercare sheet with written instructions on how to take care of your piercing.
For above the neck piercings, we also recommend using a product called Bactine. Bactine can be purchase at any drugstore and many grocery stores.
For below the neck piercings, we also recommend a mild antibacterial soap to clean your piercings. We suggest unscented and clear or white coloured soap. (ie: soft soap). Scents, colours and other additives to soap can be irritating and can contribute to piercing complications.
For oral piercings, we recommend using a mixture of alcohol-free mouthwash and water. It is important you dilute all the different varieties of mouthwash. Using undiluted mouthwash for too long can kill off the good bacteria in your mouth. This will inhibit optimal healing.
Piercing Rules!!
Do not take advice from anyone but your piercer. There are a lot of different methods of aftercare, but the only advice you should listen to is that from your Gypsy Rose Piercer.
If you seek aftercare from another source, the outcome is no longer the responsibility of your Gypsy Rose piercer.
Do not touch your piercing! Your fingers are dirty and can transfer bacteria to your piercing which can lead to infections. 95% of piercing problems arise from touching your piercing before washing your hands.
Do not remove jewelry until the piercing is completely healed. You do not need to remove your jewelry in order to clean your piercing properly. If your jewelry accidentally falls out, be sure to lubricate jewelry before attempting to reinsert back into the piercing. If you have ANY trouble at all putting your jewelry back in, come in to the shop and our piercer will be happy to put your jewelry back in safely.
If you are ever concerned about the healing of your piercing, please stop in and let us take a look. We are only able to give sound advice in person. What may look one way to you, can look a different way to your piercer. Let us give you peace of mind.
