wes

Wes has been tattooing for 26 years and is well versed in all styles of tattooing, but is undoubtedly at home in black and grey.

Wes loves biomech, portraiture, and is a master of tiny, detailed pieces. Wes loves any opportunity to bust out a marker, and he will always take the opportunity to customize your tattoo right onto your skin.

Originally from Golden, B.C, Wes has been a fixture in the Calgary tattoo scene for more than 2 decades. Despite his talent and longevity, he is one of the friendliest guys you’ll ever let hurt you.

In his spare time, Wes is an avid hiker, nature lover and rock climbing monster.

Nina

Nina got her first job in a tattoo studio in 1999. She began as a counter girl, and was eventually trained as a piercer. Three years later, she moved to Australia where she was an owner/operator of her first studio. Three years later, she was back in Calgary and opened the short lived ‘Stigmata Studio’ in Cochrane.

She worked at several Calgary studios, before opening Gypsy Rose in 2006 with her then business partner. The rest is history.

​Nina does not believe in spare time...and neither should you. Stop reading this and go make the best of your life.

dominique

Dominique has held every position at Gypsy Rose Tattoos since the year it opened. She began as a counterperson (actually…kind of a volunteer in those lean times). Within a year, she was apprenticed and became a full time piercer who still gets client requests even years after she has stopped piercing!

Dominique has always enjoyed painting, drawing and design in her time off, so the next logical move was to try her hand at tattoo design. She began her apprenticeship around 2010, and hasn’t looked back. 

She is known and sought after for her crisp, clean, fine, and bold line work. She is an expert creator of mandalas and geometric, as well as a master blackwork and dotwork.

In her time off, you can’t find her. Dominique generally takes any opportunity to get out of the city or country she can!

DARYLE

When Daryle isn't performing a double springboard moonsault off the top ropes or making whatever he makes with his many lathes, he is at Gypsy Rose tattooing realistic and surrealistic creatures and creations from the deep recesses of his wild imagination. Daryle excels with black and grey, but is a true colour magician.

Daryle is a self published graphic novel author (available for purchase at Gypsy Rose) and is also an incredibly talented painter. You can find him at markets around Calgary throughout the year. You can also follow his art and painting instagram page @sketchgoblin.

Haley

Haley has been an artist her whole life. Throughout her childhood and teen years, she spent all of her free time drawing, painting, writing and expressing her creative self. She began working artistic jobs after high school, such as painting large scale murals for commercial stores and creating artwork for local musicians. She began her tattoo journey in 2019 when she started her apprenticeship, and fell in love with the craft.

Now, she can execute many tattoo styles ranging from bold traditional linework to full colour realism, but her personal style lies somewhere in the middle. She loves the flora and the fauna, often gravitating toward natural themes, animals and plants, while adding her own dark magical twist into her designs.

Outside of the studio, she can be found seeking adventure in the mountains, out supporting the local music scene, or at home tending to her many houseplants, tarantulas and other creepy crawlies she's adopted into her mini zoo.

lucas

 Trained under Dominique and Nina, Lucas is a master piercer with over 10 years of experience. Lucas excels in all standard and exotic body piercings as well as surface piercings, and dermal anchors.

Lucas is always looking for an opportunity to work on a cool piercing project with a client, so don’t be shy! Lucas is also happy to custom anodize jewelry for you or to recolour an old piece that has lost its' brilliance.

​In his spare time, Lucas will be found reading, and listening to every punk record ever made.

emily

Emily is a full-time piercer and is excited to plan your upcoming ear curation with you. While Emily does not do dermal anchors, she is a gentle and knowledgeable piercer with more than 5 years experience. She is patient and whether it is your first piercing or simply your first piercing at Gypsy Rose, Emily will take her time walking you through the procedure and aftercare.
